A cavity is a serious dental infection that must be treated quickly. A procedure called dental preparation is used to remove the infection and prepare the tooth to receive a crown that will protect it. However, due to the unique nature of each human tooth, dental preparations often fit poorly with the crown, which can lead to its detachment or the formation of new cavities. To address this issue, artificial intelligence–based methods are now being developed to generate more precise and cost-effective dental preparations, thereby improving and democratizing dentistry.
